Welcome to Reading Practice, where you can practice reading the actual circular words. A picture will be posted with a Doctor Who quote. The IPA will NOT be given. It's up to you to figure out the IPA and the English translation. The picture may or may not have something to do with the quote, but it will be the same character (11 quote on 11 picture, not 3 quote on 7 picture, Master quote on River picture and so on).

Grammar Difficulty: Out of 5, basically, how much can you glean from context, how much scouring are you going to have to do in the Notes or GME, how much are you going to have to discern on your own
1 - Straightforward, almost word-for-word
2 - A little tough but nothing you can't handle
3 - Time to put some thought into this
4 - Definitely need to do some left-brain thinking on this one
5 - If you can do this, you might as well call yourself fluent

Vocabulary Difficulty: Out of 5, mostly having to do with verbs and creative affixes, but there is also the element of words having a lot of tails coming off them and maybe making it difficult to tell them apart. Sometimes, quotes will be given with words that haven't been released yet and you get to discover them through the quote.
1 - Straightforward, no tricks here
2 - Throw a peanut in your gears, but nothing too serious
3 - I hope you've got your thinking cap on
4 - You may want to take notes; there's some valuable stuff to be learned here
5 - If you can master this, you could call yourself fluent

Quote-to-Pic Ratio: Basically, how are they related?
Same Episode: Quote and pic are from the same episode
Same Series: From the same series but not necessarily from the same episode
Same Doctor: Could be any episode from any series

If a returning companion (or non-companion) shows up (Jack, River, Sarah Jane, the Master, etc.), the Doctor and Series will be given.

Good luck.

This is a brilliant idea!
I'm not entirely sure about my transcription but progressively guessing the quote did help a bit. ;)

Edit: Put answer in spoiler. No cheating, you lurker...

Yayz! :D Points for you! (Going to put it in a spoiler so no one else can automatically see it.)

Just a few notes:

ṱɑlaʔoz
aʃaʔəɬ (probably typo)
ṱɛzɛṱ
b'ɑz

Quote-to-Pic Ratio: Eleventh Doctor; [multi-series]

I know it's easy, but going to do several smaller ones while I work on a super massive left-brained one.

I've gotta say, this thing that I am looking at--this enormous, huge thing--it is a thing of beauty. It's beautiful, just gorgeous! #tenthdoctorsvoice I mean, this thing is any linguist's eye-candy and any Whovian's dream. And that's just the big picture. Actually reading it (combined with the image) is like being able to decipher ancient secrets of such majesty and power the sheer excitement could kill you.

Be patient. The time is coming.

Whoa, that was quite huge - and beautiful! Kept me busy for a while but I think I got it.

(And for the previous, shorter one, while I'm at it --

Quote (NorWin)
ʍɑləɬ ɑp'u kɪklori

How about b'tu instead of ɑp'u?

Quote (NorWin)
uθ lɛdrə

fɛdrə. Make sure to pay attention between the simply bendy lines and the almost-enclosed circles.

Quote (NorWin)
lɛdrə ɔk' ʒɛɹnowəb'

Oh, wow, that is totally my fault. baghead Supposed to be ɛk

Other than that, most impressive. Also a note to watch between r and ɹ. r has the dots and ɹ uses the lines.

Gold star for you!

Quote (NorWin)

Aw, jeez, I'm just confusing the poor child. *slaps self*

OKAY. 1 BILLION GALAXIES IS THE PHRASE (I'm shouting at myself, not you)! One billion in base 12 is BOU AND NUMBERS COME BEFORE. THUS THIS BECOMES BOU KIKLO. B'TU is over there on the RIGHT MARKING THE COULD CONSTRUCTION.

Keep me honest, Norwin. baghead

Gods the caps lock scared me for a sec. xD Okay, it's clearer now, guess it's just because I haven't quite got to numbers yet. (I know, I was supposed to start a few weeks ago, but then, well, Scotland happened.)

This is not actually a quote; this is a cover for Home & Tardis a rather prominent Gallifreyan magazine. I actually started this a while ago so some things will be wrong...grammatically, spelling-wise. But this is also something like the ultimate test of fluency. ;)
