| So now I'm having a go at some basic sentences you might need for simple conversation with people. Here is the first one:
Gormi, odad ɪmɪloʒ zɑʔslɪna Dʒɑʃjuə.

| *sits and watches in the corner, fascinated* *whispers* Psst! Don't forget vowel harmony! (S 1.1 in GME) Good job on remembering the case markers.
Gormi, Dʒɑʃjuə ɛk Kɪm. Odadi ɪmɪl zaʔslɪjozna Rɪhɛjs ɛk gɑlifɹɛjmi ɛjamɪɹgɛkɑ. Ɛpɑlɪpad lızʒijəɬ towa ɛsorılad opənoɹ ɛsɪl klɑsɛtçɛnaʔəɬ.
I also just realized ɑ is not included in the orthographic rules. However it is grouped with A, ə, and ɐ where it should not come before another vowel. If it does however, such as with affixes, you use a ʔ between them. So sorry about that and I will fix that p'əlk’ ʒun alodɑɹijazu ɹatɹuz ʒjɛ (as fast as possible).

| Kim's sentence: Hello Joshua. You do speak Gallifreyan! Right?
Is mine alright Rihays? I tried translating your sentence, but I couldn't work out what certain words are. For example, I couldn't find zaʔslɪj anywhere.

| Quote (awakening) Is mine alright Rihays? Almost, except you need to make "oʒ" -> "oz" and attach it to the noun instead of the possessive pronoun.
Quote (awakening) I couldn't work out what certain words are. For example, I couldn't find zaʔslɪj anywhere. The "j" is there for vowel harmony.
zaʔslɪ -> name j -> vowel harmony between ɪ and o oz -> subject marker na -> thing-possessed marker
Quote (StrangerComeKnocking) Gormi, Dʒɑʃjuə ɛk Kɪm. Odadi ɪmɪl zaʔslɪjozna Rɪhɛjs ɛk gɑlifɹɛjmi ɛjamɪɹgɛkɑ. Ɛpɑlɪpad lızʒijəɬ towa ɛsorılad opənoɹ ɛsɪl klɑsɛtçɛnaʔəɬ. Hello, Joshua and Kim. My name is Rihays and I am speaking Gallifreyan. I am happy that I can understand your words.
Quote (StrangerComeKnocking) Gormi, Dʒɑʃjuə ɛk Kɪm. I think you got this.
Quote (StrangerComeKnocking) Odadi ɪmɪl zaʔslɪjozna Rɪhɛjs Od - to be ad - is/are/be (present) i - 3rd person marker
ɪm - I ɪl - possessive marker
zaʔslɪ -> name j -> vowel harmony between ɪ and o oz -> subject marker na -> thing-possessed marker
Rɪhɛjs - Rihays (me!)
(Names don't take object markers. If your name is also coincidentally a noun or something, then you use the proper noun marker "-mo")
ɛk - and
gɑlifɹɛjmi - Gallifreyan-ly, in Gallifreyan
ɛ - 1st person j - vowel harmony between ɛ and a am - simple personal past tense ɪɹ - present universal gɛkɑ - to speak
(I used personal past because once I posted, it said it but universal present because it is still there.)
Ɛ - 1st person pɑlɪp - to feel (emotional) ad - present
lızʒi - happy j - vowel harmony - i and ə əɬ - object marker
towa - that
ɛ - 1st person sorıl - can, to be able to ad - present
opənoɹ - to understand
ɛs - you (friendly, dual) ɪl - possessive marker
klɑsɛt - word çɛ - plural marker na - thing-possessed marker ʔ - vowel harmony between a and ə əɬ - object marker
Any questions?

I'm about to go into class, but I'll look over it later and ask questions the.
Gosh, I love this language.

| Wow, cool! Complex but fun. Josh, you translated mine right. Though I am not all that great at languages, so it's probably riddled with mistakes. Eh, mistakes are part of learning how to do something, though. Ha, I find it funny that the first language I'm learning rather than English isn't even supposed to come from Earth. And me too; Gallifreyan is awesome

| Quote Almost, except you need to make "oʒ" -> "oz" and attach it to the noun instead of the possessive pronoun. Gah, the oʒ was just an honest typo, swear! Thanks, that's clearer now
Quote The "j" is there for vowel harmony. I think I just got confused by all the extra letters! Haha, it's so obvious now that I see it like that.
Quote Od - to be ad - is/are/be (present) i - 3rd person marker
ɛ - 1st person j - vowel harmony between ɛ and a am - simple personal past tense I'm confused.. Why 3rd person on Odadi but 1st person on to speak? Why does one add a 3rd person marker to "to be"?
Quote Ɛ - 1st person pɑlɪp - to feel (emotional) ad - present
ɛ - 1st person sorıl - can, to be able to ad - present So if you put a 1st person marker on it, you don't have to say "I"? The first person marker essentially makes that "I feel.."?
Thank you so much for your help! You are a legend!

| Quote (awakening) I'm confused.. Why 3rd person on Odadi but 1st person on to speak? Why does one add a 3rd person marker to "to be"? Because "to be" refers to my name not me. If it helps, "My name, it is Rihays." And I am the one speaking, not my name.
Quote (awakening) So if you put a 1st person marker on it, you don't have to say "I"? The first person marker essentially makes that "I feel.."? With the pronoun markers, here are just a few rules: 1. You can use pronoun markers and skip the actual pronoun, BUT 2. You CANNOT use just the actual pronoun and skip the marker So, technically speaking, you could drop "I" and just use "ɛ-". Context would probably do the rest. But in cases like "-i" you will notice that "-i" is the marker for all third person pronouns. Context may or may not reveal the pronouns, so it would be a good idea to include them.

| Quote (Kim) You can, or you can't skip the marker, then? You can use the pronoun with the subject marker AND/OR use the personal affix for the verb.
Quote (StrangerComeKnocking) | Rhiannon | I thought we addressed this with NorWin when he asked? o_O I just remember clarifying that the pronoun was optional? That was in the introductions thread, right? I just looked it through, and I didn't see anything about the affixes being optional or not, just the pronouns. The affix system was made specifically to be interchangeable with pronouns.
